Thailand's police disclosed the detention of a twenty-three-year-old UK man for suspected drug smuggling.

The suspect from the English county was found with 9.1 kilograms (20lb) of methamphetamine in a Thai capital accommodation, according to authorities.

The capital's police force stated it is filing accusations in the matter.

"The officers received a lead that a number of foreigners were organizing a drugs handover at the hotel," authorities stated in a social media announcement.

Police published photos of the arrest on online platforms.

Included with the announcement were photos showing a suitcase on a mattress with foil bags marked as tea, which police say after analysis contained crystal meth.

In video footage captured at the scene of the detention, the accused denies any knowledge of the bag's contents.

Police say they are bringing accusations of "having illegal substances Category I. (ice) for distribution purposes".

British authorities emphasized that Thailand has strict regulations against drug use, holding, and smuggling, and carrying even small quantities can result in heavy fines and jail time.
