Two Victims Named in Brown University Incident as Authorities Press On With Hunt for Gunman.

Two students who lost their lives in Saturday’s mass shooting on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant carried on following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared words of sorrow on social media, remarking: “There are no words. Remembering her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

His name was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

What Happened

Nine more persons were hurt in the weekend shooting in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a raid at a hotel about around 27 kilometers from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.
