The Grisly Cartoon Film Ending That Stays With Audiences

Out of all the mature cartoon movies I have personally viewed, nothing has stuck with me quite like the terror-laced finale of the viscerally violent as well as overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spain-based writer-director developed a grim, bleak , frequently brutal universe with a few small , desolate hints of optimism.

While The Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from a desire to advance the medium even more, the filmmaker stated that it was more a try to express a global, cross-cultural theme concerning “the mutual source of each battle.”

This theme is expressed through a group of colorful pastel bears , openly inspired by a well-known line of lovable figures.

Being raised in a culture centered on militarism and the war machine, a lot of the bears are consumed by slaughtering unicorns, thanks to a sacred text that claims the bears they were once rulers of the woodland, until the horned beings expelled them.

Others did not entirely bought into the indoctrination, , prefer to try out drugs and engage sexually in the forest.

In contrast to their friendly equivalents, these colorful critters display genitals and obvious libidos.

For one notably brutal, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the battle with unicorns becomes a road to power — and especially to dominance over his softer, nicer brother Tubby.

This bear behaves aggressively and an obvious sociopath , and when fear overcomes his unit and claims his comrades individually, he takes progressively influence personally, through ever more bloody, destructive ways.

Meanwhile, these mythical beings are suffering their own horror, through a growing, destructive monster in their forest.

“Initially, it feels like a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker stated. “However it becomes a more intense and sorrowful film. And in the finale, it becomes a scary feature.”

Unicorn Wars begins feeling a bit like one of the most quirky features from a renowned filmmaker, that uncover a wicked pleasure in permitting animated figures swear, fire weapons, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it evolves into closer to a darker work from that creator, featuring progressively explicit brutality and a noticeable link to the actual horror of war.

Ultimately, it becomes an outright Grand Guignol bloodbath.

The terror that makes this a perfect Halloween viewing starts well before than one might expect.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated gorehounds, for enthusiasts of graphic films who want to view a film they have not seen on-screen before, and are able to withstand a plot that pulls unflinching brutality.

View it with the lights off without any distractions, and the conclusion will burrow under your skin and linger.
