The Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Matchup Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer contributed to the Houston Astros claiming the World Series in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their initial Fall Classic since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the AL Championship Series.

Behind three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three win in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming World Series.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, Canada," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that won the 2017 title. "What an amazing experience."

George Springer has now slugged twenty-three October home runs, ranking him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment other than him with his October magic," said Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's painful" after his club's elimination at their home ballpark, but praised their work this season.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he added.

Toronto's team won the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
