Spurs Open to Offloading Winger Brennan Johnson.

Wales international Brennan Johnson
Brennan Johnson has earned forty-two times with the Welsh national team since his first appearance in 2020.

Tottenham Hotspur's European final hero Brennan Johnson finds himself in an unclear situation in North London amid rising top-flight attention in his services.

Reports indicate that Tottenham, while not actively seeking to part with the Wales international, are receptive to letting Johnson leave in the event of a suitable offer.

The Eagles are reportedly the club most advanced in their interest for Johnson, but other teams are said to be watching developments closely.

A Season of Mixed Fortunes

Johnson was Tottenham's top Premier League scorer last season with 11 strikes, and secured his place in Spurs folklore by netting the decisive goal in their European final victory over Manchester United last season, bringing to a close the club's seventeen-year wait for a major honor.

However, the exit of Ange Postecoglou and arrival of Thomas Frank has meant Johnson playing more of a reduced role this season.

The Welsh forward, has made only six top-flight starting appearances under Frank.

Transfer Market Speculation Grows

Consequently, a host of clubs have been alerted to his potential availability before the January transfer window.

Due to his reduced minutes and the prospect of a global tournament approaching with Wales, a transfer elsewhere from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could benefit Johnson next month.

The attacker moved to Tottenham from Nottingham Forest in a deal valued at £47.5m in the summer of 2023 and has scored 27 goals for the club.

Summary

  • The Welsh international's position at Spurs is currently in doubt.
  • Tottenham is not actively marketing him but would entertain bids.
  • Selhurst Park officials are leading the chase, with other Premier League clubs interested.
  • The arrival of manager has reduced his playing time this season.
  • The January transfer window and Wales's commitments could drive a potential move.
