New Information Come to Light Concerning the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
New information has come to light regarding the untimely deaths of esteemed director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home property on Sunday.
The Initial Report
According to a report referencing a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after being unable to gain access the residence. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
After gaining access to the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her contacted 911. Subsequently, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently detained without bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source also disputed several initial details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
Furthermore disputed widely reported suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in recent weeks. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
This refutation includes reports of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. While the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
Per law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, about 15 miles from the scene. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
