Sean Combs will stand before a federal judge in NYC Friday morning to receive his sentence subsequent to his guilty verdict this year on charges related to prostitution.

Court Verdict

Following the eight-week trial that wrapped up in the month of July, jurors found Combs not guilty of the most serious accusations of human trafficking and conspiracy charges. However, the jury, however, rule against him on two counts of transporting people for sex work.

Judge Arun Subramanian now holds the responsibility of deciding the punishment. Proceedings are set to begin at ten in the morning Eastern Standard Time.

Case Details

Combs was accused of influencing two past associates into sexual situations involving drugs involving paid companions. If found guilty on the most serious charges could have led to a lifetime behind bars.

When he was acquitted of those allegations, he allegedly dropped to his knees in supplication. His lawyer remarked that he had “been given his life back”.

Potential Sentence

However, the guilty verdicts he did receive both carry a possible of ten years in prison according to the US Mann Act, which prohibits crossing state lines to arrange commercial sex.

Federal prosecutors portray the conduct as grave offenses, while the legal defense has downplayed the charges as “backup” charges that never should have gone forward.

Sources indicate that Combs intends to address to the presiding officer before the judgment is pronounced, although not testifying throughout the legal proceedings.

Through a filing submitted the previous week, his legal representatives requested that he be authorized to be present in “civilian attire” at the hearing, just as he had in the proceedings when he sported informal business attire.

“This court hearing holds significant importance for the defendant,” the filing stated. “He wants to stand before the bench, speak to the court, and speak in the most honorable and respectful fashion feasible.”

Suggested Sentences

A wide range of punishments are possible, as the government and defense have offered suggestions following federal sentencing rules, although the final decision is up to the court.

Federal attorneys is urging at least 135 months behind bars – that’s 11 years and three months – calling Combs “showing no remorse” and highlighting violence and intimidation that testifiers described.

The defense team are seeking a maximum of just over a year, which considering time served would allow Combs to be released by the close of 2025. Their position is that his penalty has already proven enough for what they say was consensual sex with hired performers.

Sentencing officials, in the meantime, estimated that the guideline range could extend to up to seven years and three months.
