Lautaro Martínez Brace Ensures Inter Milan on Tail of Frontrunners
Inter striker Lautaro Martínez netted a late brace to secure his side a 2-0 win at Pisa, keeping the visitors firmly involved in the Serie A title race despite a somewhat shaky display.

Led by Cristian Chivu, Inter currently are placed third in the table with 27 points total, tied with second-placed Roma and just one point behind leaders Milan. In contrast, Pisa occupy the third bottom position with 10 points.

Inter arrived in Tuscany looking to get back on track after suffering a derby defeat by Milan last weekend, followed by a European loss at Atlético Madrid. Nonetheless, they were forced to fight all the way by promoted Pisa. The home team created numerous chances, but a clinical Inter broke the deadlock in the 69th minute when Argentine Martínez drilled a one-time shot into the roof of the net. The attacker then finished from close range seven minutes from time.
The team’s ability to score despite pressure proved decisive in securing the victory.

In Spain, the Basque side mounted a dramatic fightback from 2-0 down to level at home against Villarreal, only to succumb to a late strike five minutes into added time. Villarreal’s scoring came from Ayoze Pérez just after the half-hour mark and Alberto Moleiro in the 57th minute, but Carlos Soler quickly reduced the deficit and Ander Barrenetxea leveled the score three minutes from time. Yet, Moleiro delivered the final say late in stoppage time.
Later on La Liga fixture, Real Madrid travel to Girona requiring a win to go back to the summit above Barcelona, who recorded a 3-1 triumph over Alavés on the previous day.
