Ange Postecoglou stood his ground as Nottingham Forest fans called for his sacking after barely a short period in control

A costly two-three European defeat to the Danish side leaves the manager winless in his opening six games at the helm of the club

He is now the first full-time manager of Nottingham Forest in a century to fail to win in any of his first six fixtures

After Valdemar Byskov netted the visitors' late third goal at the home stadium, many Forest supporters shouted "You'll be fired in the morning" towards the ex-Spurs boss

"Supporters are disappointed. They are entitled to have an view on it. I listened to their perspective," stated a downcast manager, who was also jeered as he walked off the pitch at full-time

Only about four months prior when the coach was lifting the Europa League with Tottenham, but he was dismissed 16 days later, paying the price for a poor domestic campaign. Now he is struggling to get results right at another club

The initial continental match at the City Ground for nearly three decades ended in deep disappointment, and the finger of blame was pointed at the manager before the final whistle had sounded

"The duty I have is to ensure we get some wins for this football club and advance it," said the head coach

"I would prefer if people were optimistic in their outlook of what I am attempting. I can only alter that by securing wins of soccer

"Irrespective, that's not going to affect the way I'm taking things on. I really believe in the process of what we're doing and I do not believe we're far away from being the squad that can solve the situation we're in at the moment and get the results"

The club invested approximately £180m in the summer, looking to build on last season's success, but the former manager was dismissed recently after his rapport with the owner deteriorated

The Australian took over from him on the ninth of September, but Forest have been unable to maintain last season's form and found it tough against their opponents from the Danish league

The Australian head coach thinks his team remain near a breakthrough

"Yes I do, nothing I observed tonight changes any of that," Postecoglou said. "I understand the mood around the place won't be great, and I understand supporters' stance at the moment, particularly directed at me, but it's a situation I've faced before for me

"I am convinced we are on the correct path and when we get through this phase of doubt we are in, we will be on a positive trajectory"

The striker's injury-time spot-kick could not save Forest who previously conceded first period goals from one attacker and another player, either side of a teammate's equaliser

Forest drew two-all at Real Betis last week and travel to Newcastle in the league on the weekend before the international break

The manager said: "It's a disappointing outcome from us. It was an significant evening for many reasons and [a] familiar story, us letting ourselves down in key moments and having a mountain to climb

"If you allow the opportunity to score each time they approach your goal, it's going to be difficult to secure victories of football"

Will Postecoglou be allowed patience?

It is known that Marinakis is not afraid to make swift changes if he feels matters are failing

At Olympiacos, he sacked ex-Huddersfield coach Carlos Corberan after only 48 days as head coach, while Nuno's departure came a short time after he agreed to a new three-year deal

Currently the focus falls on the current boss

"I feel he will receive more patience because he was appointed by the owner," ex-player and West Ham forward a pundit said on TNT Sports

"He will give him additional leeway to implement his ideas going, because right now it seems he is struggling to get his tactics over to the squad"

Former Forest and Foxes boss another expert noted: "Victories are the name of the game - it is as simple as that

On the jeers, O'Neill continued: "One must handle with all the distractions around you. You must not let it dictate everything, but you cannot ignore it"
