Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected crossover event that defies traditional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the official release, "A strange confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where hints of banned ceremonies and terrifying changes resonate through the obscurity." The plot features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.
The mission centers on "strange trials and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Changes
The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Additional Content
Players who finish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana alongside several items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Update
This release also brings the game's newest complimentary story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series previously included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
